Support for Families

Parents and caregivers often face difficult moments when a child seems unusually irritable, reactive, withdrawn, or quick to argue. These behaviors can be stressful to manage at home and may leave adults unsure of the best way to respond.

To support families, we are sharing an upcoming webinar from McLean Hospital’s Leaders in Youth Mental Health Series:

Responding Skillfully in the Context of Childhood Irritability
Date: March 18
Time: 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM

This free webinar is designed for caregivers and educators and will explore practical ways to better understand and respond to childhood irritability.

What participants will learn

  • A stronger foundational understanding of childhood irritability

  • Practical strategies for staying grounded, supportive, and firm

  • Therapeutic interventions and referral options for children and families who may need additional support

Childhood irritability can range from developmentally normal behavior to something more serious and concerning. It may also appear alongside behaviors such as aggression, arguing, withdrawal, or other high-risk reactions. This session aims to help adults respond with greater calm, clarity, and confidence.
