Emily Monahan-Morang, M.Ed., LPCC (she/her)
Emily currently is a provisionally licensed psychotherapist who has an interest in working with high performers/achievers (e.g., student-athletes, STEM industry, academia), neurodivergent (e.g., high masking diagnosed or suspected ADHD and/or Autism), and LGBTQIA+ populations. Emily primarily works with graduate students, young professionals, and professionals. She mainly has experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions (e.g., transition to adulthood, stress management, grief, identity exploration and development), and providing affirmation around neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ identities.
Emily’s aim in her work is to empower clients to reach their potential by meeting people where they are at in life. She believes the therapeutic process is collaborative in nature as she helps guide clients towards an empowered sense of self. Emily works from a strengths-based perspective that is person-centered, culturally informed, and trauma informed.
Emily pulls from an array of therapeutic modalities that include but are not limited to: CBT, DBT, Somatic Experiencing, Emotions Focused Therapy, Systems Theory, Psychodynamic (e.g., inner child work), and Polyvagal Theory. In addition to her counseling background, she also has master’s level education and training in Sport & Performance Psychology. She has worked with individuals and teams at the collegiate level and within the military. Sport & Performance work being defined as but not limited to: Energy management, attention control, motivation, imagery, goal setting, confidence, and team culture.
Emily recognizes she won’t be the best fit for every client, as every client is a unique individual as with each psychotherapist. · Master’s in Education in Counseling with a concentration in Sport Psychology from Boston University
· Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from Clark University
